Over the past 12 months, there have been a number of new mining codes in countries including Gabon, the DRC, Algeria and Cote d'Ivoire. Some suggest that government 'taking' (of economics and the power to control) is still ongoing, while others suggest enlightenment to the new world order of depressed economic conditions and the need for stability and certainty.
This session will examine some recent changes in mining regulation and highlight the speed of adjustment (or lack thereof) to the current mining climate.
