Justin P’ng is an Associate in Fasken’s Privacy and Cybersecurity Group. He advises private and public sector organizations on various privacy matters, including privacy policies and procedures, data protection, privacy impact assessments, access to information requests, employee privacy, incident response planning, and regulatory compliance with privacy laws. Justin regularly acts as breach counsel in privacy breach incidents, including ransomware attacks and business email compromises, and advises clients on investigation and remediation issues, notification and reporting obligations, litigation risks, and stakeholder communications.
Justin is a Certified Information Privacy Professional for Canada (CIPP/C) with the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
Justin was previously a member of Fasken’s Labour, Employment & Human Rights group, and advised employers in the provincial and federal sector on various workplace matters related to employment agreements, workplace policies and procedures, employment standards compliance, employment litigation, labour relations, human rights, occupational health and safety, and workplace investigations.
Justin graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School, where he received numerous awards for academic and professional excellence. As a competitive mooter in law school, Justin was winner of the Julius Alexander Isaac Moot, and currently coaches the Osgoode Hall Law School team. Prior to law school, he obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts in International Relations with High Distinction from the University of Toronto.
Justin is actively involved in the community and serves as Secretary for the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (FACL Ontario). He is also involved in the Ontario Bar Association Labour and Employment Law Section Executive, where he served as Technology Liaison, Secretary, and currently serves as CPD Liaison. In his spare time, Justin enjoys travelling the world and practising martial arts as a first-degree black belt in Shotokan karate.
